Renowned for their dynamic on-stage energy, Spiderbait are without doubt one of the country’s most beloved live acts.
The story of Spiderbait is an unlikely but heart-warming one – three friends from a small Australian country town taking on the music scene, and emerging triumphantly thirty years later, friendship intact, and now one of the biggest and best rock bands on the national landscape.
The trio’s popularity spans three decades and shows no signs of abating. They’ve released seven acclaimed albums, all of which have racked up Gold, Platinum or Double Platinum status, and have combined Australian sales of over a million units. Spiderbait have also chalked up almost every Australian accolade possible, taking home multiple ARIA Awards, topping charts and becoming the first Australian band to take the crown in triple j’s prestigious Hottest 100 of 1996 with ‘Buy Me A Pony’. Australian rock ‘n roll royalty, and with a catalogue of music that’s distinctive and uncompromising, Spiderbait’s anticipated Black Betty 20th Anniversary Tour will see the band playing their greatest hits and celebrating their greatest hit of all.
Crystal Robins and the Wildfires
Crystal Robins brings to the stage her folk and alt-country flavoured original songs, with the help of her band full of NT talent ‘The Wildfires’. A recent graduate of The CMAA Academy of Country Music 2024, Crystal has performed at festivals around Australia, and supported touring artists including Kingswood, Wendy Matthews and Josh Pyke. Come along to hear new songs & stories from Crystal’s debut full-length album, set for release later this year.
Dave Garnham and the Reasons to Live
David Garnham & the Reasons to live look like truckers but sing like angels. Slacker country toe tappers, thigh slappers n' sentimentality. Part larrikin, part broken bird, part bleeding heart, Garnham himself is awash with contradictions. His songs trail close behind in a mix of hope and hopelessness. Stereobate
STEREOBATE is well known in Darwin for its high-energy rock cover shows. They have supported Australian legends such as The Wolfe Brothers, The Bondi Cigars, Casey Barnes, Adam Harvey, and Beccy Cole! The Boys are a staple of Darwin's Vibrant Music Scene. STEREOBATE is a power trio that performs a broad catalogue of songs influenced by rock, blues, power pop, country, and rockabilly we all know and love. The band is fronted by Singer and Lead Guitarist Glen Forner, whose captivating stage presence will take the audience along for the ride with the Tighter-than-a-Tiger rhythm section of Damien Whitney and Aaron McLucas's Bobbing Bass. STEREOBATE always gets the crowd pumping, so this will be a show not to be missed!
Gored Matadors
Gored Matadors are a 4-piece Swampy, Heavy Blues, Spaghetti Western, Punk Rock band who have been playing around the Top End for the past 10+ years. They have self-recorded and released three well-received EP’s, shared the stage with national and international touring bands, and played the local legends stage at the Sea Breeze Festival, One Tropical day with Super Jesus, The Screaming Jets and The Angels and rousing performances with the Cosmic Psychos. Gored Matadors are products of their environment, and their songs reflect this with stories exploring the seedy underbelly of Top End life. Their first 3 EP form a story describing the narrators fall into a world populated by the fringes of Darwin society. Most known for their high energy live shows, the Gored Matadors ‘take no prisoners’ approach to music making has made them one of Darwin’s most beloved bands.
Ward Hancock Trio
You might remember Ward Hancock from Darwin’s much-loved Rambutan Jam Band. Since then, Ward has spent eight years studying in Melbourne and honing his musical skills all over Australia and in Jamaica. Now back in Darwin, he has been collaborating with numerous artists across the NT. His stripped-back solo sound has been compared to John Major. Performing with his trio the band move effortlessly through reggae, soul and folk.
The Corbs
The Corbs are dynamic Father & Daughter acoustic duo. They woo audiences all over the top end as well as a recent appearance in Australian Idol. Melodic Harmonies & family banter are a big part of this amazing performance.
The Governors
Darwins favourite Hammond combo, The Governors have created their own flavour of deep fried northern funk. Featuring Brendan Hicks, Matt Holt, Tom Jones, Allen Murphy and Mick Totham, their unconstrained improvisations surge with monsoonal power above a groove that has the viscosity of a Top End wetland in the thick of Dalirrgang.
The Jigsaw Collective
Jigsaw Collective is a soul roots and jam band from Darwin, Australia. The original music of the act is driven by front man and performer Jack Tinapple and incorporates a host of highly skilled musicians. Always expect the unexpected. Jigsaw Collective lives for original sound and the rush of improvisation where the key is audience interaction and listening to each other's harmony and rhythm. Solos are heavily backed by counter melody, syncopation reigns and guest artists flourish. No note is safe but everyone is held high in adulation ready for the bass to drop.
Trucker Hat Appreciation Society
The Trucker Hat Appreciation Society is more than a band. It a way of life! Good times, Beers, Bars, Boots and especially cool Hats. If it’s a Honky Tonk were in. A dive bar, sign us up. Barn Dance?! Git it! And if it’s not, we’ll turn it into one. We just love all things country and promise the best party you’ve ever stomped a boot too. When it some to the band, we’ve got it all covered. The Roy Boys
The Roy Boys are John Coulehan and Darryl Barba from the band Roymackonkey. John and Darryl have performed live for 25 years within the Darwin live music scene. The Roy Boys perform their original songs acoustically creating a relaxed ambience of soulful groove acoustic rock.
